Ryan and Sara | Canby Wedding Photography

Sara and Ryan are cool. It seems like a weird way for me to describe a couple, but it’s true. These two are just cool. They’ve been together for a ridiculously long time, and it shows. They know each other. They understand each other. They’re just… cool. They are both really chill about almost everything, and their wedding day was no exception. Yeah, a few things went wrong here and there, but for the most part Sara and Ryan stayed completely calm and happy. Like, oh hey, we’re getting married today. No biggie. Let’s just have a giant party. Heck, why not? And the wedding WAS like a giant party. Sara and Ryan are both musicians and artists at heart and it showed. Instead of a DJ, they opted to hire the Barrel Room house band for their wedding (and they were amazing, by the way). Instead of boutonnieres the guys pinned silhouettes of guitars to their suits. Sara and Ryan gave everyone in their wedding party a flask, and those were quite well received! The couple also exchanged gifts in the morning; Sara gave Ryan a new acoustic guitar, and he gave her a past-present-future diamond necklace. Everything was so thoughtful! To top it all off, at the end of the night, Ryan’s former band, Honest To Empire, reunited to play a few songs while the Barrel Room band was taking a break. There’s nothing like feeling like a rockstar on your wedding night! The whole shindig went down on at Postalwait’s, a beautiful rural property out near Canby and Aurora, Oregon. It was a super fun place to have a wedding, and the whole area was extremely photogenic

Sara began the day by getting ready with her mom and bridesmaids. Her gown was just beautiful

Of course, her Dad had to take a peek at her too

Once she was dressed, Sara sent her sister downstairs to give Ryan his gift

And then he sent her right back upstairs with Sara’s beautiful present

The girls were mostly ready by this point – but the guys weren’t! They had been busy setting things up all morning

Ryan’s mom and dad made sure that he looked just right

And then we walked out toward the Saloon to do Ryan and Sara’s first look! The lighting was just perfect

Once they had seen each other, we decided to wander around the area taking portraits for awhile. Postalwait’s is so gorgeous

Sara, you looked stunning. Ryan you are one lucky man

Sara was all about the props -made me happy

Once we were finished with portraits, we moved on to their HUGE wedding party

And before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony to begin! Sara did an amazing job planning the little details

My friend (and former co-worker/employee/boss) Craig was the officiant! He did a great job

Not very many dry eyes in the house! They also signed their marriage certificate during the ceremony, which I think is always nice

I now pronounce you husband and wife

The reception was held outside on the lawn after the ceremony. I loved the purple and orange! Everything looked soo prett

We snapped some BIG family portraits before dinner began, as well as a few more shots of the wedding party all together

By that point, everyone was starving. Good thing that the food was amazin

The toasts began when everyone was done eating, and they were a colorful bunch. Huge smiles and lots of tears

After the toasts, Ryan and Sara when inside to cut their cake

The guests seemed to enjoy their cupcakes too! Haha

Still on their sugar high, Ryan and Sara danced their first dance, surprising the audience with something a little out of the ordinary

Then came the father-daughter and mother-son dances

And then the partying began! The guests did not hesitate to start dancing the night away

I love this: Ryan and Sara’s mothers were dancing with each othe

Took a few shots of the car they’ve been restoring! (But they didn’t end up driving it home – they had a limo for that!)

And then I snagged the couple away from the dancefloor to take some pretty pictures while the sunlight was all golden and perfect

I love this series: they crack each other up

We waited a little longer, and took a few more right after the sun went down too

By this point the band was feeling pretty tired, so Ryan’s college band, Honest to Empire, reunited to play a few songs

The guys celebrated afterward with a few delicious cigars around the bonfire

And what else? More dancing! Of course

Sara changed into this awesome retro flapper dress as the night came to an end

When the night was over, a limo arrived to take them to PDX! Their honeymoon was starting at around 4am the next day

Congratulations Ryan and Sara! I had a blast working with you and seeing so many familiar faces at your wedding! You are a beautiful couple and I can tell that you are going to have a fantastic marriage. Thank you so much for giving me the privilege of being your wedding photographer! I had a great tim
