There’s so much beauty in following your heart. In doing it your own way. In figuring out what’s best for you and then making that happen. Jacki and Nicolo are the perfect example of this. They are contemporary circus artists who met because they both pursued their passion in an unconventional career. They fell in love while training with world-class contortion and hand-balancing coaches in Mongolia. Today they perform together, side by side, in a dual aerial act. These two are like the definition of following your dreams. So, their wedding was reflection of this. It wasn’t circus themed or anything like that, but Jacki and Nicolo did choose to do things their own way and it was beautiful. The afternoon started with separate bride and groom blessings by all the women and the men respectively, with musicians then leading the group to the ceremony which was a unique blend between religious and non-religious elements, with both a priest and an officiant. They kissed in the middle of the ceremony instead of at the end, and afterwards they hugged their parents and best friends right up by the altar. They did things in a way that felt meaningful to them, without worrying about what a wedding was “supposed” to be. “Perfect is the enemy of good,” Jacki said to me during the day. “I don’t need a perfect wedding, I just want a good one.” It was a lot better than good though. It was great
