Elyse and Brendan | Portland Engagement Photos
It was a beautiful day – not too dark, nice soft clouds, a little bit of sunlight here and there – we were so pleased with ourselves. “We picked the best day!” we said, so optimistically as we drove to the Columbia River Gorge on a lovely Sunday afternoon. And then we noticed the trees. They looked like they were about to fall over. Our car was getting pushed around on the road. It was it WINDY. Not like a cute-little-breeze-blowing-in-your-hair windy either. Like 70-mph knock-you-over-and-freeze-you-to-the-bone windy. It was unmanageable wind. The last time I experienced wind like that was in Iceland of all places. Oomph. These two were such champs. We tried our best to get a handful of shots at my favorite epic locations, but quickly retreated to the quiet waterfalls and dark green sheltered areas that offered us a respite from the gusts. It was there that we were able to relax a bit more, explore, hike through a creek, climb, laugh and actually enjoy ourselves a bit. It was not the easiest day for them, but Elyse and Brendan took it all in stride and I absolutely loved getting to see the way they interacted and loved one another. I absolutely cannot wait to photograph their wedding next summer! Congrats on your engagement you two!
